Ronaldo has taken the footballing world by storm after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan and now his Manchester United teammate Raphael Varane is one of the first players to speak out on this topic.
CR7 sat down with Piers Morgan to give a candid interview and the way things are shaping up, it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t want to return to Old Trafford.
The Man United management are said to be in shock as they did not have any idea about this interview but they have released an official statement claiming that they will only react once the full interview has been aired.
However, France defender Raphael Varane has come to give a statement on this whole situation.
“Obviously it affects us,” Varane told Europe1, as quoted. “We follow what is happening and what is being said.
“We try to calm the situation in our own way and we try not to get too involved in it. What is happening in the media – in the big clubs things [like this] gain momentum.
“When it’s a star like Ronaldo, even more, so we try to take it with distance, that is to say that we do not try to change the situation alone because we are part of a collective.”
He’s also made it clear that whatever decision Man United take regarding this situation, he along with all the other players will stand by it.
He added: “What I want is the best for my team. So whatever the decision, as players, we’ll accept it and give the best of ourselves.”
Ronaldo has said several candid as well as unwanted things in this interview so it’s very easy to claim that the Portuguese international has already played his final match for Manchester United.
Now what remains to be seen is if the club decide to let him go in January or do they hold onto him until the end of his contract.
