Jose Mourinho Tottenham take on Chelsea

Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Lille striker Victor Osimhen over the past few months – as per reports.

The player joined the French side last summer and this campaign he has caught everyone’s attention by scoring 18 goals in just 38 appearances across all competitions

Some reports have claimed that Arsenal are the frontrunners in signing the 21-year-old but Gabriele Marcotti has now suggested that Victor Osimhen should try and secure a move to the other side of North London.

The football expert said, as reported: “I think he would be a tremendous fit for Spurs because in terms of style of play, I’m not saying he’s as good, but there are obvious parallels with Harry Kane there.

“He could play with Kane, he could play when Kane is not available.

“Osimhen, Kane, Son, Lucas Moura, Bergwijn, that’s a ton of firepower. Obviously Mourinho’s got good links with that club, so we’ll see.”

Why Spurs are not likely to land Victor Osimhen:

Jose Mourinho will love to get Victor Osimhen on board during the summer but we do not think the Lilywhites will be able to match Lille’s asking price for their centre-forward.

Recently, their president had hinted that the club might look to sell him off at around the same price for which they let Nicolas Pepe join Arsenal last summer.

Gerard Lopez has said: “I am not being a sales guy because last year people didn’t believe that we had the offers we had with [Nicolas] Pepe and it turns out we had multiple of them.

“Let me tell you with Osimhen, it is the same thing, whatever number you heard, the high number I have read is very much on the money of the offers that we have received. That’s where we are.”

This means Lopez might demand somewhere around £70 million for Victor Osimhen and there is no way Daniel Levy will be willing to spend that much money on one single player.

Arsenal also are not in a strong financial position to spend such a massive amount in the transfer market but if the club can manage to sell Alexandre Lacazette for a hefty fee, Mikel Arteta might just try and land Victor Osimhen.
