There is no doubt, Viktor Gyokeres will be the talk of the town next summer and with each passing week, his admirers seem to be growing at a massive pace.
Premier League sides Manchester United, Arsenal and even Chelsea have been strongly linked with the Sporting striker and if the latest reports are to be believed then Spanish giants Barcelona have also registered an interest.
Arsenal and Chelsea had tried to sign the striker this summer but he chose to remain at Sporting because he had joined only in 2023. The two London sides will once again try to sign him but the experts believe that Viktor Gyokeres might be tempted to follow Amorim to Manchester United by the end of this season.
Where will Viktor Gyokeres end up next season?
Ruben Amorim has made it clear that Manchester United will not try and sign Gyokeres in January but he’s also admitted that the Swedish international will leave Sporting next summer.
Without a doubt, Man United will go after the goal-scoring machine but they already have Hojlund and Zirkzee in their team meaning the incoming manager will have to get rid of at least one of them.
Chelsea and Arsenal are also in need of a world-class striker and they won’t shy away from breaking the bank for a talent like Viktor Gyokeres. However, there is a big chance that Barcelona will beat all these sides to the finish line.
Gyokeres has scored 16 goals in 11 league appearances this season and he will be the ideal long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Despite all their recent struggles, the lure and pull of a team like Barcelona is unmatched and if Gyokeres can be guaranteed regular playing time then there’s a major chance that the 26-year-old will snub all the other suitors and pack his bags for Camp Nou.
Barcelona and Viktor Gyokeres would be a match made in heaven but the striker has a €100 million release clause which will be impossible for them to trigger. Some rumours are suggesting that Gyokeres has a gentleman’s agreement with Sporting which will allow him to leave for a lower value and if this is true then Barca are really in with a chance.
