Real Madrid’s interest in Erling Haaland is an open secret and according to Defensa Central, the Los Blancos are open to letting Vinicius Jr leave in order to sign the Manchester City striker.

Erling Haaland is doing wonders with MCFC and with an English treble already in his bag some experts believe the Norwegian international is now ready for a new challenge and has his heart set on joining Real Madrid.

Haaland obviously has shown no signs of discontent but Man City know very well that Madrid are a real danger which is why the Premier League side wants to tie him down to a new contract.

On the Spanish side, Real Madrid value Vinicius Jr very highly as well and they are not ready to listen to any offers in the summer. However, Perez wouldn’t mind sending the Brazilian international to Manchester if Guardiola is willing to offload Haaland.

Erling Haaland has been at the top of his game since joining the EPL and in 87 appearances, the forward has netted 81 goals in all competitions. His deal with Man City expires in 2027 but his contract has a release clause which can be triggered by non-English clubs in 2024 and that’s why City wants him to sign an extension as soon as possible.

Real Madrid are on the verge of signing Kylian Mbappe which is perhaps the main reason why they are now willing to offload Vinicius Jr. Vini has seen a massive rise with Madrid in recent seasons but he plays in the same position as Mbappe and the last thing the Madrid manager will want is a clash of egos.

In terms of market value, Haaland and Vinicius Jr are pretty close with the Norwegian valued at €180 million and the Brazilian winger valued at €150 million but we don’t think Guardiola will want to let go of Haaland.

Obviously, no club will want to lose a top player like Erling Haaland but also, he’s a centre-forward while Vinicius Jr is a left-winger so a swap deal does not make much sense. Man City currently have Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku who play on the left and if needed, even Phil Foden can play in that role.

On the other hand, Haaland is the only recognised striker in the City squad so if Pep allows him to leave then he will have to spend a lot of money on signing a replacement. This will be particularly troublesome because MCFC are running the risk of an FFP breach and if they are found guilty then a transfer ban along with a points deduction is imminent.

Vinicius Jr has been a senior pro with Madrid since 2018 and to date, he’s played more than 250 games for the club. A player like him will be a fine addition to any squad but Guardiola will definitely not want three right-wingers in his squad.

Real Madrid will obviously knock on Manchester City’s doors in the summer with this swap deal offer because now they are going to have Kylian Mbappe in their squad but it’s very hard to see the City management agreeing to this proposition. Perez does not have much to lose in this proposition because if he can convince the MCFC manager then fine or else he will just use Kylian Mbappe as a centre-forward while Vinicius Jr holds onto his position out on the left flank.
