Did this pundit just call Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a cry-baby?

Liverpool have slumped to a 4-1 loss at the hands of Manchester City in the Premier League and it’s safe to say that Jurgen Klopp can bid his title defence goodbye.

The Reds were outclassed and outsmarted by Man City in every department but even before the match had started, there were some meaty words from the onlookers.

A lot had been said by the two managers in the build-up and during the pre-match show, pundit Roy Keane, in his own style, chose to take a dig at Jurgen Klopp.

“What we don’t want to hear from Liverpool either is excuses, there’s been plenty of excuses coming out of Liverpool over the last few weeks,” said Keane, as quoted by The Mirror.

“City have had an extra break, fixture pileup, there’s been plenty of excuses from [Klopp]. We’ve said from day one, injury problems of course, have affected them, but we could say that about Manchester City.

“Liverpool have done brilliant the last three years, they need a response today, football always gives you another opportunity, they need a big performance.

“Whatever about league titles, they need to turn up today, as I said no more excuses Liverpool. Huge expectations, the bottom line is they’ve not stepped up to the plate regarding the challenges that have come their way.

“Particularly from the backup players, they’ve not been good enough, they’ve not shown it so far. Do you want to use that must-win situation?

“I suppose that is the case if they think they can win the title.”

We can’t help but agree with the fact that Jurgen Klopp has come up with a lot of excuses ever since his team’s form has dipped in the past few months. It’s just that Roy Keane has been blunt and straight-forward with the facts.

And we believe this is coming from the fact that the German boss has never faced such a situation at Liverpool.

Just last year, Liverpool were being tipped as one of the greatest Premier League sides of all time and less than 12 months later, their strikers look clueless in front of goal.

Yes, Liverpool have had to deal with a number of injury concerns but there’s no denying that no one’s going to show them sympathy if they fail to retain the Premier League title.

After the 4-1 win, Liverpool have now fallen 10 points behind league leaders Manchester City and to make matters worse, Guardiola’s side still have one game in hand.
