West Ham United had a pretty good summer transfer window under their new manager Manuel Pellegrini but all that great work went down the drain as Liverpool thrashed them on the opening weekend.

The Hammers travelled to Anfield for their opening game of the new Premier League season and returned home with a scoreline of 4-0.

Pellegrini side were made a mockery off by the Reds as goals from Mo Salah, Sadio Mane(2) and Daniel Sturridge ensured that the Champions League finalists of last season did not have to break a sweat.

And after the match, a number of Hammers fans were critical of their players for their failure to stand up and fight against Klopp’s men.

The loss to Liverpool was only the first game of the new season so a number of players are set to find a place in the first eleven during West Ham’s next game against Bournemouth despite average performances.

But as things stand, the fans clearly do not want to see one player in the starting line-up.

Winger Michail Antonio in a recent interview with the club’s official website had said that he was happy to get a start against Liverpool and was looking to prove himself in the coming few games.

Michail Antonio said: “I managed to get a start for the first game of the season and you need those players behind you who will threaten your position because it makes you want to play better and fight to stay in the team.

“I’m determined to keep my position. I’ve shown by playing in multiple positions that I just want to play and hopefully I can keep the shirt.”

This news though has not gone down too well with the fans who want Manuel Pellegrini to replace the utterly poor Michail Antonio with Yarmolenko.

Here are some reactions from the Hammers fans on the possibility that Michail Antonio might start the game vs Bournemouth.

While many of the West Ham players had poor outings against Liverpool last weekend but Michail Antonio was easily one of the worst. The 28-year-old managed to string together only 13 passes during the whole game out of which only 6 were accurate ones.

To put that into perspective, Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker has more touches(31) than Michail Antonio.
