West Ham United’s spending spree this season does not seem to end as the London outfit are planning to bring in yet another new signing.

The Hammers have already made more than half a dozen signings this summer and if latest reports are to be believed then Pellegrini is planning to sign a new midfielder.

According to the latest reports, West Ham United have agreed on a deal to sign midfielder Thiago Maia.

Maia signed for Ligue 1 side Lille last summer for a reported fee of €14 million from Brazilian side Santos but after making 35 appearances for the French side, the defensive midfielder looks all set to move to the Premier League.

As per the report, Lille who are on the verge of a financial meltdown need to sell a number of players in order to balance their books and the Hammers are using this vulnerability to bring Thiago Maia to the London Stadium.

West Ham United have been tracking the 21-year-old for some time now but the London outfit were hesitant of making a move because of the £50 million price tag on the midfielder.

But now Lille desperation to offload the players means that Manuel Pellegrini will be able to get Thiago Maia for just £20 million.

Maia played 35 games for the Lille last season but failed to score any goals or assists which might give the impression that the Hammers are spending £20 million on an unworthy player.

In reality, the Thiago Maia played 12 odd games in an attacking midfielder’s role despite being an out and out defensive midfielder. This clearly harmed his impact on the games and he was not able to produce the desired result.

But Manuel Pellegrini has long wanted to sign a defensive midfielder and if Thiago Maia joins West Ham then that search will come to an end.

Thiago Maia is known for his immaculate passing ability and as a defensive midfielder, he is known to make good interceptions.
