Premier League sides Arsenal and West Ham United have been dealt with a severe blow in the signing of striker Gianluca Scamacca because the youngster’s services have been offered to PSG.

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that he’s talked to the new PSG chief regarding the transfer of several players and he’s also made it clear that the 23-year-old was the centre of discussion.

“Luis Campos is a friend, we also met around the Champions League final,” he told Sky Sport Italia(h/t 90Min).

“We talked about a few players, but without doubt, Scamacca was a subject of the conversation. I think many clubs are interested in the player.”

Will PSG be interested in signing the striker?

The 23-year-old scored 16 goals in 36 league matches this season and his performances were enough to earn him a call-up to the Italian national side.

Scamacca played against Argentina, Germany and England during the recent break and a player of his talent can be very useful for PSG.

The French side have never been a club with a proper transfer plan so it won’t be a surprise if PSG sign Gianluca Scamacca in the hopes that he will come good in the coming seasons.

Do Arsenal and West Ham United still stand a chance to sign him?

Arsenal are yet to make any formal move for Gianluca Scamacca but West Ham United have already seen a bid rejected for the 23-year-old.

David Moyes urgently needs a partner for Michail Antonio and the Sassuolo man would have been the ideal fit. However, West Ham United will be playing in the Conference League next season so we seriously doubt if they have any major chance at signing the striker.

Teams like PSG, AC Milan and Napoli are being linked with Scamacca so there’s no way he will overlook all those attractions and decide to move to the London Stadium.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have a pretty good chance of landing the Italian because they have plenty of room in their squad. Even if Gabriel Jesus arrives, someone like Gianluca Scamacca can very easily get regular starts at Arsenal because currently apart from Eddie Nketiah, there’s no recognized striker in the squad.
