Premier League sides West Ham United and Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan’s outcast Christian Eriksen but it looks like the London sides are likely to miss out on the Danish international.

Eriksen has not been able to live up to the expectations in Italy so far this season and up until now, Inter were desperate to sell him off during the January transfer window.

Now it looks like manager Antonio Conte has had a change of heart as he wants Christian Eriksen to prove his worth at the club.

“We’ve had time to work with Eriksen on a tactical level in the position of playmaker, the one currently held by Marcelo Brozovic,” Conte said on Tuesday, as reported.

“I expect great things from him in that position. Christian is a positive guy, he has trained all week and I played him in a role where we do not have much cover.

“We try to involve Eriksen in everything we do, then obviously I have to make choices. I hope that this match can also let him believe more in himself.”

Now all of a sudden reports in Italy are claiming that Inter Milan are no longer interested in selling Eriksen this month, something which will come as a big setback to both West Ham United and Arsenal.

Both Arsenal and West Ham United are keen to add a creative midfielder to their squad this month and the former Spurs man would have been the perfect option.

It looks like Conte is not willing to take the gamble of selling Eriksen during the middle of the season, especially when his side are in an engrossing title battle with AC Milan.

The Hammers will surely be deflated with this news but Mikel Arteta will be more heart-broken since the manager wants to find an apt replacement to Mesut Ozil as soon as possible.

During the 2020-21 season, Christian Eriksen has played in nine Serie A games for Inter Milan, failing to score or assist even a single goal.
