West Ham United and Liverpool have emerged two of the favourites to land Croatian defender Domagoj Vida and it seems that the Hammers are using every possible move to outrun their Premier League rivals.

Domagoj Vida played a vital role in helping Croatia reach the World Cup finals but it seems that his club Besiktas have no intentions of letting him go for cheap.

Vida’s agent Ugur Avadan had recently claimed that a number of top European clubs are interested in signing the 29-year-old.

“It is normal for there to be interest what is important is that the offers satisfy Besiktas and then Vida,” said Ugur Avadan.

“Liverpool and Everton are huge clubs that have made offers.

Barcelona scouted Vida and had him on their shortlist but I do not see a move there happening.

“Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also interested from Spain.”

Liverpool were the first to make a formal bid for the centre-back and the amount was expected to be in the region of £19 million. But the Turkish club rejected it claiming that the offer was nowhere close to what they want for the Croatian.

And now West Ham United have seen a bid of around £20-22 million been rejected by Besiktas.

But according to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, the Hammers are planning to make an improved second bid for Domagoj Vida in the coming few days.

While the paper does not specify what the value of the next offer is going to be but given that Beskitas had also rejected an offer £26.7 million from Monaco, the Hammers will have to quote something beyond that.
