Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is eager to sign a new midfielder but according to Fabrizio Romano, the Anfield outfit are not going to make any hasty decisions.

Liverpool have a plethora of midfield injuries with the likes of Thiago, Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain all out injured which is why the manager has asked the owners to spend money on an emergency signing.

The Reds are known to make very calculated signings and Romano claims they will not ditch this philosophy meaning a big-money move is very much ruled out.

He said, as quoted: “I think they want to find the right opportunity and jump into it as soon as possible as they always do. This is how they work at Liverpool.

“[Nicolò] Barella is impossible, Frenkie [de Jong] is impossible. It’s going to be really difficult to sign this kind of player. Also [Moisés] Caicedo negotiations with Brighton is not easy.

“I think getting him in the final days of the window would be difficult. So if they can find the opportunity, they will jump to it but I am told not something super expensive – not something for €80 or €90m euros.

“At the moment it’s still something they’re exploring, for example with Konrad Laimer but Leipzig have no intention to let him go in the final days of the window. It’s not going to be an easy one but I’m sure Liverpool are exploring some secret options.”

Currently, Liverpool have seven injured players and more than half of them are midfielders so signing a new midfielder is the need of the hour. The German boss has had to depend on players like Henderson and Milner to marshal the middle of the pitch and neither of them are in top form right now which is why Klopp needs an upgrade.

However, FSG are not known to make crazy signings and since there’s only one day left in the window, it’s highly unlikely they will sign someone like De Jong or Barella.

We think either Klopp will have to adjust and adapt despite all these injuries or he will be given some free agent or someone who is a fringe player in a Championship club. It’s highly unlikely the Liverpool owners are going to bring in a top-tier player before Thursday night.
