Manchester United new boy Bruno Fernandes made a solid debut this past weekend against Wolves in the Premier League despite the match ending goalless.

The January arrived at the club after many dilemmas but on Saturday he clearly showed signs of brilliance but ultimately failed to control the game to the extent he would have liked.

And speaking after the match, the Man United manager has admitted that he is trying to get his players to make runs behind defenders so that Bruno Fernandes can play to his strengthens without being too mindful.

He said: ‘Well we’ll keep on working on it. His creativity is one of his strengths, he can see passes and play passes.

‘We need more movement, get him used to players’ qualities and us in his qualities. And that’s what we’re practising.

‘It’s not just his job, and of course Anthony he was isolated. I felt sorry for him first half. There were no runs in behind. They came second half, Dan [James] stretched them.

‘Suddenly there was space for Juan [Mata], for Andreas [Pereira], for Mason [Greenwood] when he came on, and Anthony in between. It’s hard when you don’t have runs in behind and for whatever reason first half we didn’t get them.’

And according to pundit Ian Wright, if Manchester United do not get their forwards to make runs in front of him then Bruno Fernandes could very well turn out to be a flop at the club.

Speaking on Match of the Day, he said as quoted by The Metro: ‘You look at those stats, I’ve seen the same with Pogba and it looks it might happen the same with him.

‘He needs something in front of him. He needs someone to run onto things. ‘If [United] are going to carry on playing like that he’s going to slip into that ordinary kind of category as well, unfortunately.’
