Erik ten Hag Manchester United

Erik ten Hag is the next permanent manager of Manchester United and as per the BBC, the 52-year-old will start work with his new club on Monday.

Ajax are scheduled to travel to the Caribbean as part of their partnership with the Curacao tourist board but ETH is not going to be part of this trip. Instead, he has terminated his Ajax contract six weeks early to be able to travel to Manchester and start his work early at the Theatre of Dreams.

“There will be a party with the [Ajax] staff, but I am not going to Curacao,” the next United boss told De Telegraaf’s Mike Verweij.

“I think that’s understandable. There is a lot of work to do there [at Manchester United]. That is the case with every club. A number of things still need to be organised in the staff and also in the selection. We will be working intensively on this from tomorrow.”

Erik ten Hag has made it clear that it will be an uphill task at reviving Manchester United but the manager is surely relishing the task at hand.

“There’s a lot of work that still needs to be done,” said the 52-year-old. “I think that’s understandable. This applies to every new club.

“A number of things still need to be organised with the staff and also with the squad. We will be working intensively on that from [Monday].”

Ten Hag is officially taking over from interim United boss Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season but given the dire state of the side, it’s not a surprise that he is commencing his work a bit early.

After wrapping up the Eredivisie title, the 52-year-old held a recruitment meeting with United representatives in Amsterdam and he’s also asked the Manchester United squad to report a few weeks early for their pre-season camp.

Erik ten Hag believes the United players are not in the right shape to play his brand of football which is why he wants to have some more time with the squad.

Manchester United will look to finish sixth when they take on Crystal Palace in their final game of the season on the 22nd of May.
