Owing to his recent performances for club and country, clubs like Southampton and Newcastle United have been linked with a loan move for Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour.

And now, as per The Daily Mail, Premier League new boys Norwich City have also joined the list of potential suitors.

Simon Jones writes: “Norwich City are eager to sign Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on a season loan. The Premier League new boys face plenty of competition for the Scotland international with the likes of Newcastle United and Southampton also among his admirers.

“Norwich boss Daniel Farke has a good relationship with Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel and is keen to add the young Scot’s creativity to his midfield.”

Where will Billy Gilmour be playing next season?

Billy Gilmour started his youth career with Scottish side Rangers FC and last week, former England international Paul Robinson had urged the midfielder to spend a loan season with the Gers, under the guidance of Steven Gerrard.

He told Football Insider: “Rangers are a more attractive proposition than a mid-table Premier League side at the moment. They are playing in the Champions League and will be competing for every domestic honour next year.

“To learn under Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister, as a midfielder, would be invaluable. What those two have done at Rangers over the past two years has been amazing. What better place to be? He would enjoy his football up there, Rangers would be amazing.

“He would get a lot of the ball and they would be winning most weeks.

“If he goes on loan to a mid-table Premier League side he would not be playing in Europe every week. I think Rangers would be the ideal move to further his progression.”

While this could be a  viable option for the youngster but with so many big Premier League clubs interested in him, we don’t think Gilmour will want to return to Scotland.

Southampton and Newcastle United could turn out to be likely destinations for the 20-year-old but given the fact that Norwich boss Daniel Farke shares a great relationship with Thomas Tuchel, the newly-promoted side might be the one to land Billy Gilmour on a loan deal.

Chelsea are likely to open talks with Kante over a new deal and they also have other midfielders like Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho in the squad. So, it will only make sense for them to let young Billy Gilmour head out and get some game time under his belt next season.
