Spurs have sacked manager Nuno Espirito Santo following the embarrassing defeat to Manchester United on Saturday. The poor performances and the lucid tactics seem to be the major reasons for the Portuguese’s departure.

A statement from Tottenham read: “The Club can today announce that Nuno Espírito Santo and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have been relieved of their duties.”

Fabio Paratici, Managing Director, Football, said: “I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision.

“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”

Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as the Spurs boss during the summer and to date, he had managed only 17 matches across all competitions, with a PPM of 1.65.

Who will be the next Spurs manager?

Rumours are ripe that Daniel Levy is planning to bring in former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as the next Spurs manager.

Levy is moving quickly to secure the services of the Italian and if both the parties can reach an agreement then the Italian is ready to come to North London – with immediate effect.

Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour is saying: “Things moving very quickly indeed with Antonio Conte in London for talks with Tottenham, Sky in Italy are reporting, and that this is in the final stages of negotiations.

“The negotiations continue, with Tottenham saying they will give an update on the coaching situation later today and if those negotiations continue quickly, then Conte could be in charge for that Vitesse Arnhem match in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.”

This is not the first time that Tottenham Hotspur are trying to bring Antonio Conte on board as they had made contact with him during the summer as well. But back then, the former Inter boss had rejected the offer.

And this is why we will have to wait and see if he will agree to the terms this time or not.
