Ansu Fati’s season at Barcelona has not gotten any better and after the recent snubs, it’s pretty evident that he will be sent out of the club during the ongoing transfer window itself.
In the 24/25 season, Fati has featured in just four LaLiga games for Barca and was a notable absentee during the club’s Copa de Rey tie against Real Betis this week.
When asked about this, Hansi Flick was very candid saying that Ansu Fati is currently down the pecking order and he will have to work really hard to come back into the starting lineup.
Flick told the press: “The team is in good shape, we have fewer injured players and I have to decide based on what I see in training,
“I already said yesterday that he started well, in pre-season, he got injured, then again. And he has to train and show that he is improving. That is the situation.”
This clearly seems to be the end of the road for the young winger and a return to the Premier League will be the next logical move for him. Last season he spent some time with Brighton and according to a report from Sport, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are now interested in signing him.
Should WHUFC or Spurs gamble on Ansu Fati?
Ansu Fati broke into the scene for Barcelona in 2020 but since then, things haven’t quite worked out for him. Constant injuries troubled have halted his progress and it’s clear that Hansi Flick has no plans of using him. Despite being just 22, the winger has already missed 131 games for club and country due to various injury issues.
A loan move out of Camp Nou will make the most sense for the forward and at this point, West Ham United should be the ones to take a risk with the Spaniard.
The Hammers are already without Bowen and Michail Antonio and they have just lost Niclas Fulkrug to an injury. In such a scenario, Graham Potter will need to be backed with adequate attacking reinforcements, and signing Ansu Fati on a short-term loan deal will make a lot of sense for the London side.
Tottenham Hotspur might not have done great during the first half of the season but Ange has plenty of options in attack so there’s very little chance that Daniel Levy will be desperate to bring Fati on board. The 22-year-old’s versatility could be a major asset for the Spurs manager but with so many defensive injuries, Postecoglou will prefer some new defensive signings during January.
West Ham United are making a fresh start under Graham Potter and Ansu Fati is someone who can very easily adapt to the manager’s quick-paced and fluid style of football. The Hammers obviously do not have a lot of money to spend in January so a loan spell without any obligation(possibly an option to buy) will tempt them even more.
Ansu Fati might not be good enough to find a regular starting spot in the Barcelona lineup but the 22-year-old certainly has what it takes to play for a WHUFC side who have won just 9 out of their 21 Premier League matches this season.
Tottenham Hotspur will definitely hold talks with Fati’s representatives but we firmly believe that West Ham United should set the ball rolling and bring the Barcelona misfit on board.
