Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is out of contract at Arsenal next summer and the Gunners are desperately trying to make him sign a new deal at the club.

The Gabon international has been linked with a series of top European clubs over the past couple of months but recently Mikel Arteta went on record to claim that the Gunners are confident about tieing down Aubameyang to a fresh deal before the new season begins.

“I like the way the conversations are going, I like what I’m hearing. I’m sure for both parties, the quicker we can do it, the better for everyone,” he told Sky Sports News, as reported. “I am confident he will extend his stay.

“He’s generally happy. I think he is enjoying his football. He is settled in the country and his family are good.

“I think he can sense – and we’ve told him – how much we like him, how much we value him. I think the connection he has with the fans is unique. I believe he is in the perfect place for him.”

But now reports in England are suggesting that Aubameyang could once again try and force his way out of the Emirates since Barcelona are still keen to sign him.

A report in Mundo Deportivo cites Sky Sports saying: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a player who has been on the Barça agenda for a long time.

“On some occasion, Barça have considered their hiring and the Gabonese striker is one of the alternatives in case the signing of Lautaro fails, which is the first option to reinforce the lead. Aubameyang is aware of Barca’s interest and according to Sky Sport is willing to wait for FC Barcelona.”

Lautaro Martinez is obviously Barcelona’s first choice this summer but with the way things are going, major doubts are starting to creep in over the validity of this transfer.

The new season is just around the corner and we have a feeling that the Barca thinktank might not want to waste too much chance in chasing the Inter man which is why there’s a big chance they might shift their focus to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pretty soon.
