Chelsea take on Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend and if the Blues can manage to pick up all three points then they would move within five points from the Foxes who currently occupy the third spot on the table.

This though will be easier said than done since Chelsea have seen a massive dip in form during the past couple of months and have managed to win just two out of their past five league matches.

And on Saturday they will possibly be without the services of Tammy Abraham who is still recovering from an injury meaning Michy Batshuayi will start in his place.

While Batshuayi has chipped in with a couple of useful goals for Chelsea this season but according to Sky Sports’ pundit Charlie Nicholas, the absence of Abraham will be a big cause of concern for Lampard and this could be one of the main reasons why they might fail to pick up yet another win in the league.

He wrote for Sky Sports: “Chelsea are up and down. Is Michy Batshuayi a replacement for Tammy Abraham? No.

“Could he do a short-term job? Possibly.

“He is not a link-up player, but more of a penalty-box player and Abraham has more than that. But they have limited options ahead of Deadline Day. Some of the young players have gone slightly off the boil.

“Leicester will have had a lot taken out of them over the festive period. They were strong favourites against Aston Villa and failed to make the final.

“Brendan Rodgers will not like losing cup ties, as he had none of that with Celtic. Jamie Vardy came on and James Maddison played well, but they do not have balance right.

“There is a vulnerability at the back for Leicester and they will be questioning themselves. They have more than enough for the top four but both will be more than happy with a point from this one.”

If Chelsea fail to pick up a win vs the Foxes then it would mean serious trouble for the Blues since four clubs are currently on their tail and they could very well end up closer to the bottom half of the table in the coming few weeks.
