Chelsea picked up a narrow 3-2 win against Crystal Palace in the Premier League this week and next up they face an even sterner test in the form of Sheffield United.

The Blades have seen a dip in form since the 19-20 season resumed but they picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win against Wolves in midweek and there’s every chance they will carry this momentum into the Chelsea match on Saturday.

Many pundits have predicted that both the sides will share the spoils of this match but according to Michael Owen, Chelsea should be able to nick this one despite being pretty evenly matched.

He wrote for BetVictor: “Sheffield United take on Chelsea in a match between two sides who on paper are very evenly matched.

“In their last seven games against each other, they have each won three with the most recent meeting a 2-2 draw back in August.

“Sheffield United have only conceded 14 goals at home this season but Chelsea are one of the most prolific teams away from home so this has all the signs of a very close match to call.

“Both teams are in good form but with the Blades having had to play so many games in such a short space of time, and with a much smaller squad, I fancy this to end with a narrow 1-0 win to Chelsea.”

Chelsea have been in the grove during their past couple of outings but Sheffield United have rarely faltered this season in the Premier League.

Not many teams have caused significant trouble to the Blades’ backline so far and if their defenders can hold the fort then there’s every chance that Wilder’s men might be able to pick up something from this match.

After Leicester City’s draw vs Arsenal, Chelsea are now sitting in the 3rd spot of the table but if they fail to pick up a win vs Sheffield then, most certainly they will slide down once again.
