Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Chelsea seem to be the latest club interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal this upcoming transfer window – as per the rumours.

Aubameyang is about to enter the final year of his contract at the Emirates and right now the player has no plans of putting pen to paper on a new deal. So if his stance does not chance soon enough, Arteta will have no other option but to sell him off in the summer.

Pundit Charlie Nicholas recently in his weekly column had claimed that Arsenal cannot afford another Aaron Ramsey saga and they should let the Gabon international leave in case someone’s willing to pay big.

Nicholas had recently said: “He is a magical goalscorer, but the only way I can accept if he moves on is if Arsenal say he won’t sign a new contract and they have had offers for him.

“If they get an offer of around £60m-£80m and accept that they need to rebuild the defence, then I would buy into that.

“My preference would be to keep him but I have a feeling Arsenal will not keep him. If Ozil stays, I feel they will sell him, and they cannot afford another Aaron Ramsey saga.”

Why Chelsea will not be able to sign Aubameyang:

There are a number of reasons why Chelsea will not be able to land this deal despite showing interest in signing him.

The first and most obvious reason is that Arsenal will not be too keen to sell their biggest asset to a London rival even if the Blues are willing to pay a handsome compensation.

The other reason being Aubameyang is already in the final phase of his professional career meaning whichever club he wishes to join, he will most certainly want uninterrupted game time. But if he was to join Chelsea, he will have to fight it out with the likes of Tammy Abraham for a regular place in the starting XI.

The third and perhaps the biggest reason is that Chelsea have always been hesitant about handing long-term deals to players who are over 30 meaning it will be really hard for Aubameyang to get a three or four-year contract at Stamford Bridge given he will be turning 31 in June.
