Chelsea are reportedly looking to make a move for FC Porto midfielder Jesus Corona if the Blues fail to land Jadon Sancho.

Chelsea along with a host of other clubs are lining to make a bid for Jadon Sancho but at this moment, Premier League rivals Manchester United are the favourites to sign Sancho in the summer.

Which is why the Daily Star are claiming: “Chelsea are keeping tabs on Porto star Jesus Corona as a fall-back option in case they miss out on Jadon Sancho.

“Blues boss Frank Lampard has Sancho firmly on his wish list but Manchester United are currently favourites to sign the £100m-rated Borussia Dortmund star.

“Chelsea have been looking at potential alternatives and scouts have identified Corona as another option. The 27-year-old Mexico winger, who can also play wing-back, has two goals and 17 assists in 41 games for Porto this season.”

Why Chelsea will not be able to sign Jesus Corona?

Jesus Corona is by trade a right-sided midfielder but can also play as a right-back, as a left-sided midfielder, as a second striker and also on the wings.

So clearly this type of player will be a great asset to Frank Lampard’s squad next season but there are a few reasons why the London side might not be able to land him.

The first major reason is that Inter Milan and Sevilla are also being linked with the 27-year-old and Lampard has other transfer priorities that need sorting before he can shift focus to Jesus Corona.

The other big reason why Chelsea might not be able to get him on board is that he has previously turned down a move to Barcelona because he wanted to play regularly. And right now, Frank Lampard cannot guarantee him playing time despite all the different positions he can operate in.

The Blues though will not lose hope since Jesus Corona is valued at €20 million according to TransferMarkt and he has just two more years left on his current deal at Porto.
