Christian Eriksen chose to end six and a half years of relationship with Tottenham Hotspur as he moved to Inter Milan during the January transfer window.

“I’m very excited and can’t wait to introduce myself to the fans,” Eriksen said after the move was confirmed.

“I’ve already experienced their warmth, it’s been a fantastic welcome. I feel great.”

“The numbers say that I did really well in England. It’s now time to start a new challenge, I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play in Serie A for a big team. Inter is a fantastic club.”

While Inter Milan did manage to secure the signing of the Danish playmaker but for the longest time the Spurs man was linked with a move to Premier League club Manchester United.

At one point in time, there were various rumours which claimed that Christian Eriksen was on his way to Old Trafford but now the player has revealed why he chose not to join another Premier League club after leaving Spurs.

“For a few years but it was never really likely,” Eriksen told the BBC.

“We did speak to them of course and we did hear what was possible and what wasn’t possible. But, in the end, me personally, I wanted a new challenge.

“To stay in the Premier League would have been an easy solution

“Of course, staying at Tottenham would also have been a solution but, for me, it just came down to wanting to try a new challenge in a new country. Once Inter came up it really wasn’t a difficult choice.”

Christian Eriksen has been the creative spark for Spurs for a number of seasons now meaning Jose Mourinho will really have to work hard in order to find a long-term replacement of the midfielder.
