PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi played the full 90 minutes against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night and many people don’t understand how he’s eligible to play despite being formally charged with rape.

Reports on Friday revealed that the defender was given preliminary charges of rape based on an investigation which was opened last week.

Following this news, Hakimi was left out of PSG’s squad to face Nantes on Saturday evening and everyone was certain that he is not going to play in midweek as well.

However, to everyone’s surprise, he was not only selected for the Champions League matchday squad but he even went on to deliver a solid performance.

ESPN has said that PSG have no intentions of freezing him out of the squad and that Christophe Galtier will keep selecting him.

Many people had thought that since the second leg of their UCL clash was to be played in Germany, Achraf Hakimi would not be allowed to leave French soil. However, RMC Sport has made it clear that the Morocco international is still allowed to leave France.

His presence, however, was not enough because PSG were eliminated from the Champions League as they failed to score even a single goal over both legs.

The Ligue 1 is the bread and butter for the French giants and their main focus has always been to win the UCL. This time with Lionel Messi in their side, everyone thought PSG would be able to go all the way but they have once again stumbled out of the tournament, that too in rather with utter mediocrity.

As far as Achraf Hakimi is concerned, his club seems to be backing him until the investigations are concluded but he’s been ordered not to make any contact with the victim.
