Unai Emery reveals why he did not shake hands with Maurizio Sarri after Chelsea’s victory at the Bridge

Arsenal brought in a new manager during the summer but it seems that the fate of Arsenal cannot be so easily changed.

The Gunners looked as lack-lustre as they had been under Arsenal Wenger during the past couple of seasons after they suffered two back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

Arsenal lost their first London Derby to Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge and the fans will be fuming at yet another bad performance from their teams.

The Gunners were carved open at every opportunity by Chelsea and the Blues took a handsome two-goal lead before half-time.

But then Arsenal dug deep and brought the match level thanks to goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi.

And as Unai Emery was planning to throw the kitchen sink at Chelsea during the final quarter of the game, the Blues hit back with yet another goal – this time from Marcos Alonso which proved to be the match winner.

While the Gunners did perform pathetically but they had the change to win the game handsomely if the likes of Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan had not missed sitters in front of goal.

But once the match was done and dusted the cameras noticed that Arsenal boss Unai Emery did not shake the hand of Maurizio Sarri and went straight into the tunnel.

And this gesture immediately sparked rumours about a rift amongst the managers which is quite common between both the teams.

So naturally this question popped up when Emery met the press after the game and the Gunners boss immediately laughed off the suggestions and said:

“I waited for him in the dressing room to give him my hand,”

Arsenal will now face West Ham United at home next weekend who just like them are winless in their first two games while Chelsea will hit the road to take on Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United on Sunday.
