Kylian Mbappe is easily one of the most top rated teenage sensations in any sports right now.

The lad is just 19 years old and he is already being compared to the likes of Pele and Maradona. And the World Cup winner has plenty of stats to prove that all the hype around his talents is not just hot air.

Currently playing for PSG, Mbappe has already clocked up more than 60 goals for club and country and the forward has scored 8 goals for France in 2018 itself.

There’s no denying that Kylian Mbappe has a beautiful feature ahead of him but recent reports have revealed that the Frenchman could have easily ended up in the Premier League.

Kylian Mbappe joined PSG from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017 on a loan deal and a subsequent fee of €145 million plus €35 million in add-ons was agreed for the final transfer, making him the most expensive teenager ever.

Before playing for AS Monaco, Mbappe had the chance of joining Premier League side, Chelsea when former Chelsea scout Serge Daniel Boga spotted Mabppe while he was playing for AS Bondy.

And as soon as he lay eyes on the youngster he immediately set up a trial for him at Stamford Bridge.

Talking to Goal, Boga said: “I brought him over with his family. He was skilful like he is now. He played against Charlton and won 7-0,”

“After a week at Chelsea, we went into the office. We said, ‘Listen, we appreciate what we saw from you but we have to invite you back for another trial and we’ll see after that.’

“I remember what the mother said to this day. She spoke in French to [Jim] Fraser and I was translating.

“She said to me, ‘Listen, my boy won’t be coming back. If they want him they have to take him now or in five year’s time they will be coming back to buy him for €50 million!’

“She was right, though. It wasn’t even €50m but €180m that someone would pay. So, she knew the quality of her son and she was right.“

Why didn’t Chelsea sign Kylian Mbappe?

The former Chelsea scout also goes on to add why he thinks the Premier League outfit chose not to select the youngster who is now one of the best talents in the world.

“He was very skilful but in England, they want to see the player track back and be a hard worker. At the time, he wasn’t a hard worker,” said Boga.

“Defensively, he wasn’t there yet. When he got the ball, he was unbelievable, but without the ball, he didn’t work a lot.

“They should have signed him. To be fair, though, it is easy to say that now. But, at the time, Chelsea had a good squad.”

“I think until now, Mbappe is the best player I have ever scouted. I am proud, very proud to see what he has become. When I see him play, I say, ‘Wow, my eyes were good!’

“He has everything to remain one of the best players for 10 years.”
