Edinson Cavani looked all set to move out of PSG during the January transfer window with a series of clubs interested in signing him.

But eventually, none of those moves materialized meaning the 32-year-old will have to remain in Paris until the end of the current season.

Edinson Cavani is out of contract at PSG during the summer meaning he is free to talks to clubs right now and will move out as a free agent.

But in the past month, clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid were all interested in signing the striker with Frank Lampard openly claiming that his club might be looking at a possible deal.

At one point it seemed like Atletico had won the race and were about to sign him but eventually, none of the interested clubs could get their hands on the player.

And now, the player’s brother has revealed the reason why despite strong interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United, Edinson Cavani did not move to the Premier League.

“Cavani was willing to receive less than with PSG,” said his brother Walter Guglielmone as reported by MEN.

“Atletico could not cover the total economic cost of the operation and PSG did not want to lower the amounts he was asking for. Atletico Madrid did not close the agreement.

“Do you think that Edi did not play for almost a month at PSG so that I could drop the operation for a commission and that Edi did not fulfill his dream of going to Atletico Madrid?

“If it were for money, Edi would have gone to England, Manchester or Chelsea.”

While Manchester United did manage to secure a loan move for former Watford striker Odion Ighalo from the Chinese Super League, Chelsea though failed to bring in any new forwards this month which meant that the manager had no other choice but to block the exit of Olivier Giroud.
