Chelsea secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend but now they have been charged by the FA for their players’ conduct.

The Blues played 45 minutes with 10 men after full-back Reece James was shown a red card for a handball. And following this incident, all the Chelsea players were left furious.

Now the FA have charged Chelsea for failing to control their players and the London side have until Friday to come up with a response.

The official statement reads: “Chelsea FC has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Saturday [28/08/21].

“It is alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 48th minute of the first half and following the half-time whistle.

“Chelsea FC has until Friday [03/09/21] to provide a response to this charge.”

Many people thought referee Anthony Taylor made his decision by looking at only one freeze frame and if he had taken some more time to analyze the situation, Reece James could have escaped with only a yellow card.

And especially in a season when the referee has been asked not to give soft fouls, this decision really comes as a surprise to many.

Obviously, the Chelsea players lost their cool during the whole incident forcing the referee to show yellow cards to Antonio Rudiger as well as Edouard Mendy.

The draw means Chelsea and Liverpool are both on seven points on the league table, drawing one and winning their other two matches. Tuchel’s side occupy the fourth spot while Liverpool are just below them at five.
