Rangers FC overcame the Hearts challenge in the Premiership this weekend and now Steven Gerrard’s side are sitting on top of the league table.

Celtic obviously has played one game less than their Glasgow rivals as they were involved in the League Cup final against Aberdeen this weekend.

And now Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish is singing praises of one Rangers player.

Dalglish who played for Celtic for eight long years has highlighted the importance of Gers keeper Allan McGregor this season.

McGregor returned back to Rangers this summer after a rather average spell with Hull in the English Championship and since coming back to Ibrox the veteran shot-stopper has been exceptional for Steven Gerrard’s side.

“It leaves them needing a victory away at Rapid Vienna,” Dalglish said(talking about Rangers’ Europa League endeavours).

“In the past three months, they have accumulated good results to leave themselves with a fighting chance.

“When you go into any game, especially in Europe, you want to know you have a right good goalkeeper in place, and in Allan McGregor, Rangers have that.

“He has been outstanding for the team and often looks unbeatable.”

Allan McGregor has so far played 13 games in the Premiership for Rangers and five games in the Europa League. And in each of these matches, the 36-year-old has been extraordinary.

Rangers will now take on Aberdeen at home in midweek while Celtic travel away to take on Motherwell.
