Jack Grealish playing for Aston Villa

Jack Grealish has been one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League over the past three transfer windows but according to Paul Scholes, he needs to join a top club very soon.

While Scholes backed the 25-year-old’s talents but the pundit made it clear that Jack Grealish will have to move out of Aston Villa is he wishes to become one of the best in the English top division.

“I love him and I think he’s a great player,” said Scholes, as quoted. “Very talented. And done it in a decent team in Villa.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the player but if he was doing this at Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, one of the top clubs then he would be up there. He would possibly be (in the) top three.”

He then added: “There’s no pressure on Villa. Where’s the pressure on Villa? If he’s at a top club then he needs to win every week. He needs to leave Villa to prove it.

“I don’t question the lad’s ability one bit. I just want to see him do it at a top club. I think Villa are a great club, (but) he needs to get out to a club that needs to win every week, (where) there is pressure on him to win every week, win trophies and deliver titles. I think he’s capable of doing it but there will always be doubt until he does it.”

Man United were heavily linked with Jack Grealish last summer and some rumours claim the Red Devils still hold an interest in the playmaker and could make a move for him if Paul Pogba refuses to sign a new deal.

Apart from United, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have also been linked with the England international and if he keeps performing at the same pace then the Citizens could also launch a bid in the summer.

Grealish has provided 12 assists so far this season in the Premier League at Aston Villa and the player still has four years left on his current deal. While Villa are theoretically in no hurry to offload him but Dean Smith will not want to wait for too long to cash in on his most prized asset.
