Charlton Athletic forward Lyle Taylor has been urged to snub a move to Rangers FC during the summer despite the Gers being interested in bringing him on board for the 2020/21 season,

According to Kevin Phillips, the 30-year-old should look to avoid joining the Ibrox outfit especially if both Alfredo Morelos and Jermaine Defoe are still part of the first-team squad after the upcoming transfer window.

“He can go to Scotland but if Morelos stays and Defoe stays – does he get in front of those two? I do not think he does at the moment,” he told Football Insider.

“He might be going from a club where he is playing week in, week out to a club where he is going to be on the bench.

“From the player’s point of view, if you are going to leave, go to a club where you will play week in, week out and continue doing what you have been doing.

“He is rated very highly. I want to see him playing regularly wherever he is next year.”

Will Lyle Taylor snub a move to Rangers FC?

Firstly, Rangers FC are not the only club who are being linked with a move for Lyle Taylor so the Gers are clearly not the obvious choice.

Premier League clubs like AFC Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are also interested in signing the centre-forward and many experts believe Taylor will look to play in the English top division next season – a dream which every professional footballer harbours.

Another reason why Rangers could miss out on the forward is that recent reports have suggested that Turkish club Galatasaray have offered a massive deal to the player – one in which he’s set to earn an enormous pay rise.

But personally we believe Lyle Taylor is likely to join an English top division club this summer so it does not matter if Morelos or Defoe remain at Ibrox or not.
