Arsenal could be given the chance to sign Mauro Icardi in exchange of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – as per a report in TEAMtalk.

Arsenal have tabled a new bid in front of Aubameyang but still, there are fears the Gabon international could try and force a move out of the Emirates in the summer.

And it looks like Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is very much eager to get his hands on the forward before the start of the new season, even if that means sending Mauro Icardi the other way.

The report states: “Arsenal could be given the chance to sign Mauro Icardi as a direct replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports in Italy.

“Icardi is one of the most dangerous strikers in the world, but his relationship with Inter turned sour last year, prompting them to strip him of the captaincy before offloading him on loan to Paris Saint-Germain.

“If he is not bought by PSG, it is extremely unlikely that he will be re-integrated into the Inter setup, meaning there could be a scramble for his signature. And according to Tuttosport (via Calciomercato), that could present an opening for Arsenal to make a marquee signing – but it would come with a catch.”

Will Arsenal accept Mauro Icardi in exchange of Aubameyang?

Icardi is without a doubt one of the best centre-forwards in world football right now and Mikel Arteta will have no issues in getting the Argentinian in a swap deal for Aubameyang.

But we do not think this deal with go through eventually since as per the latest updates, PSG have decided to sign the player permanently in the summer.

Mauro Icardi has managed to net 12 goals in 20 Ligue 1 matches for PSG while on loan and the management are said to be pretty satisfied with his performance. The club are expected to trigger the €70 million option to buy clause in the coming months which is a serious blow to Arsenal’s hopes of getting their hands on the 27-year-old.

PSG though are not too keen to pay €70 million for the forward but Inter Milan are more than happy to renegotiate the deal which is an automatic indication that a swap deal between Aubameyang and Icardi is not going to happen in the summer.

All hope is not lost for Arsenal though since Conte still remains interested in signing Aubameyang and if Inter can get a handsome transfer fee for Mauro Icardi then he could use that same money to try and bring in the Gunners frontman.
