Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for AS Roma centre-forward Patrik Schick – as per the latest rumours.
Patrik Schick is currently out on loan to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and during the 2019-20 season, he has featured in 17 league matches, scoring eight and assisting two goals.
His loan spell in Germany ends at the end of the ongoing season but Leipzig do have an option to buy and some rumours claim the German side are planning to trigger the clause in the summer.
If this happens then surely the two North London sides will fall down the pecking order since time and again, Patrik Schick has indicated that he loves playing in the Bundesliga.
The option to buy is valued at around €29 million but as per the latest buzz in Italy, Leipzig are only willing to pay €24 million for the services of the 24-year-old.
It’s still unclear if Roma will accept this discounted value but some experts feel the Italian side will not risk looking out on essential funds in fears of making a loss of only a few million euros.
This means Arsenal and Spurs can now only wait and watch the whole scenario unfold and at best, pray that Leipzig pull the plug on this transfer.
Money is certainly not a cause of concern for the Bundesliga side since they are about to sell Timo Werner to Liverpool for a hefty transfer fee which, in turn, means they will need to hold onto Patrik Schick in order to fill the void left behind by the German international.
So, right now all the odds are stacked heavily against the two Premier League sides who are both in need of attacking reinforcements for the 2020/21 season.
