Pundit urges this 29 Y/O forward not to join Man United: Fair point?

Man United have reportedly been trying to sign Raul Jimenez from Wolves during the ongoing transfer window but according to ESPN Deportes’ journalist Ricardo Puig, the Mexican should not make the shift.

Writing in his ESPN column, Puig said that Man United are not particularly a bigger side than Wolves at this point in time which is why Raul Jimenez should tread carefully this summer.

He wrote: “It is there[Europa League] where it will be the turn of Raúl Jiménez. The Mexican striker is the spearhead of the Wolverhampton project. The English team did not have the best season close in the Premier and was left out of the European positions, but they have plenty of arguments to be a candidate in the Europa League.

“What happens in the next few weeks with Wolves will largely depend on Jiménez’s future. Manchester United, Arsenal or Juventus have sounded like possible destinations for him. I, honestly, do not understand the rush.

“I understand everyone who says his quality would allow him to be in a ‘better’ team. Although for the better we let ourselves be carried away many times by the past of the clubs and not so much by their present.

“Arsenal or Manchester United are not necessarily better today than the Wolves, beyond the fact that the fame of both has an abyss.

“If Raúl leaves Wolverhampton, he must do so to ensure the minutes and the prominence that his team offers him today. He is 29 years old, he is going through his best moment as a professional, he is a figure of his club and indisputable for his selection.

“When the next season ends, there will be one year left for the Qatar World Cup. If Jiménez chooses wrong, all of the above could disappear.”

Will Raul Jimenez snub a move to Man United?

Wolves no doubt play some eye-catching football under Nuno Espirito Santo but that fact is that Man United still remain a much bigger club than them.

Also, if Raul Jimenez was to join Manchester United this summer, he will be able to play in the Champions League but if he wishes to stay with Wolves then he might not even be in Europe next season.

So clearly Man United will have a big say in this transfer saga and if they try hard enough they should be able to land the 29-year-old. But the only thing that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cannot offer him is regular first-team football.
