Southampton are likely to miss out on the loan signing of Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury since the player would choose to join West Brom instead, that’s according to Express and Star.

Brendan Rodgers had recently hinted that he was not too keen to send Choudhury out on a loan deal saying: “A loan deal isn’t an overly attractive one at this moment in time. If he does go out, it may be to get games. He wants to play, which is natural.

“It’s just something that we’re not in a big rush to do, but because of the enquiries over a loan, I just wanted to make it clear he’s not really a player that we’re overly keen on loaning.

“If someone is looking to buy him, or sees his qualities to buy then that’s a different matter. We’ll see what January brings on that front.”

But according to Express and Star, the 23-year-old happens to be Sam Allardyce’s number transfer target and West Brom are in advanced talks with Leicester City over a possible loan deal.

This news, if true, will come as a big blow for Southampton since they were pretty eager to sign Hamza Choudhury on loan as well.

Many people will be curious as to why the England U21 international would choose to snub a move to Southampton and join West Bromwich Albion, a club who are currently 19th on the league table.

According to the same report, Hamza Choudhury wants to join a side where he can get regular playing time, something which would elude him if he chooses to join Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

The Loughborough born lad has fallen way down the pecking order this season for Leicester City having played in only three games in the Premier League so far.
