Serie A giants AC Milan are interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori after Lampard’s agreed to send him out on loan, according to The Guardian.
The report states: “Milan have entered the race to sign Fikayo Tomori on loan for the rest of the season. The Serie A leaders are looking to strengthen at the back and are considering the Chelsea defender as an alternative to Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan.
“Tomori’s hopes of joining Milan could rest on the Italian club missing out on Simakan. They want to buy the French centre-back but face stiff competition from RB Leipzig for the 20-year-old.
“Milan are exploring other options and have been alerted to Frank Lampard confirming that Tomori will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan.”
With an abundance of defenders, Frank Lampard had recently admitted that Chelsea have no problems in letting the 23-year-old head out on loan for the rest of the season.
“The situation with Fikayo is open at the moment. There is a possibility he could be going on loan to get games somewhere else,” Lampard had told after Chelsea’s FA Cup game.
“So that would have to be the solution for him and the club. That was part of my thinking of not starting him today.”
Will Fikayo Tomori choose a move to AC Milan?
AC Milan are currently at the top of Serie A table so a move to the San Siro is undoubtedly a lucrative prospect for Fikayo Tomori. But Milan aren’t the only club interested in signing him on loan.
Premier League sides Leeds United and Newcastle United are eager to land the centre-back as well and we think the two English sides have a better chance of landing the deal than the Italian giants.
Firstly, at either Leeds or Newcastle, Tomori will get a lot more game time than compared to AC Milan and secondly, the youngster would want to remain in the Premier League, given the level of competition in the English top division this season.
