Juventus have announced that Adrien Rabiot has left the club after he refused a new contract worth €7.5 million per season however, the midfielder seems to have no shortage of takers.
Rabiot joined Juventus from PSG in 2019 and after 157 Serie A matches, the French midfielder wants to find a new challenge, possibly in the Premier League.
Manchester United have a really long-standing interest in Rabiot and in recent months, Liverpool have also been linked with him. However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that even though he wants to play in England, Liverpool have no immediate interest in the 29-year-old.
Romano has said: “Adrien Rabiot dreams of Premier League football, his priority as free agent. Rabiot also has proposals from other leagues… but still waiting for PL clubs. Liverpool are NOT working on deal to sign Rabiot, despite recent links.”
With Liverpool out of the way, Man United might be running a one-horse race but apart from the Red Devils, Real Madrid have also been keeping an eye on the midfielder and there’s a slender chance Ancelotti might want to bring him on board.
Will Madrid try and go head-on with Manchester United for Adrien Rabiot?
Real Madrid have just lost Leny Yoro to Man United so one would think they will want to even the score by snatching Rabiot. However, we doubt if Carlo Ancelotti or Florentino Perez will want to sign the French international.
Adrien Rabiot comes with a ton of experience having played more than 450 senior games and he might just have the ability to replace the recently retired Toni Kroos. Having said that, Madrid have a plethora of midfielders at their disposal plus they have just tied down Luka Modric to a new short-term deal. Adrien Rabiot is a central midfielder by trade and to be precise, the Los Blancos have as many as five players for that exact same position.
Yes, sooner or later, the club will have to find a long-term replacement for both Kroos and Modric but right now, Perez will prefer to strengthen the backline instead of losing sleep over a transfer battle with Manchester United.
Man United, on the other hand, can very much do with a new central midfielder, especially with the likes of Casemiro and Scott McTominay being linked with an exit. If both of them leave in the coming weeks then Adrien Rabiot can be the ideal long-term replacement. And with him being a free agent, the United board can use the money saved on other new signings.
To conclude, Real Madrid can very easily go head-on with Manchester United for a talent like Adrien Rabiot but Ancelotti currently has 7 midfielders in his squad and we are confident he will not want to add an 8th – not at least in this transfer window.
