Chelsea players Kepa Arrizabalaga and Antonio Rudiger were involved in a training ground bust-up on Sunday and eventually, the manager had to intervene to sort things out.

An exclusive report by The Telegraph claims: “Thomas Tuchel sent Antonio Rudiger in early from training on Sunday after the defender was involved in a bust-up with Kepa Arrizabalaga less than 24 hours after the Chelsea head coach had warned his players not to lose their heads in the wake of the 5-2 defeat by West Bromwich Albion.

“Tuchel saw his 14-game unbeaten run smashed at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and responded by reiterating the need for calm.

“But tempers boiled over in training on Easter Sunday, as Kepa and Rudiger were involved in a heated argument that resulted in a pushing match between the pair before Tuchel sent the German into the changing-rooms five minutes before the end of the session to calm down.

Sources claim the argument was sparked in a small-sided game, in which defender Rudiger went in late on Kepa, who reacted and the heated argument quickly escalated into pushes being exchanged.”

Will Antonio Rudiger & Arrizabalaga miss the UCL game?

Chelsea have not had the best of weekends, losing 2-5 at the hands of West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League and with this dented confidence they will have to face Porto in the Champions League in midweek.

And given that things are spiralling down a little bit, some people feel Thomas Tuchel could try and rule with an iron fist and just to set an example, both Antonio Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga might be left out of the matchday squad.

Recently, Mikel Arteta did not select Aubameyang for a match as he had arrived late to the stadium but we don’t think Tuchel will want to take any such drastic steps since this game vs Porto is very important.

After the loss to West Brom, their top-four hopes have taken another blow and they are just about hanging onto that final UCL spot. So the last thing they will want to do is put more pressure on themselves by keeping some key players out of the squad and then end up losing the first leg.

Edouard Mendy is the first choice keeper for Chelsea this season so Kepa will not get a chance to start anyways but Antonio Rudiger has found a new lease of life under the new manager and the German is a guaranteed starter in defence on Wednesday.
