Arsenal want Sergio Aguero Man City

Sergio Aguero will leave Man City as a free agent at the end of the 2020-21 season and according to pundit Paul Merson, the Argentine could look to join Arsenal.

The Gunners are being managed by Mikel Arteta who was an understudy to Pep Guardiola for a number of years at City which is why Aguero might feel at home – in terms of playing style, if he opts to join the North London side.

“Will he stay in England or will his next move be abroad? If he stays in England, I think Arsenal would suit the style he would be looking for. They’d be a good choice,” Merson said on Sky Sports, as quoted by The Standard.

“Mikel Arteta was at Manchester City and the way Arsenal play; they get around the box and they do create a lot of opportunities. Arsenal do tick that box for Aguero.

“But if does he go abroad where the intensity is not as hard as it is in England? He could go somewhere with a different climate and where the games are not as intense as they are in the Premier League.

“That could help with his injury problems as he moves into the latter stages of his career. It’s an important move for Aguero as he moves into the final stage of a glittering career.”

Can Arsenal get their hands on Sergio Aguero?

Recent reports have suggested that Arsenal have made initial contact with Sergio Aguero in the hopes of luring him into the side via the Mikel Arteta connection.

But, in reality, the Gunners stand no chance of signing the Argentine despite him entering the twilight of his playing career.

The prospect of signing someone like Sergio Aguero on a free transfer means a number of big European clubs have shown an interest in the 32-year-old and clubs like Barcelona and Inter Milan are said to be interested in him.

Rumours have it that Aguero is not keen to remain in England and would prefer a move abroad and there’s a big chance he might return to the La Liga for a second stint.

Arsenal will obviously give this one a try but even Mikel Arteta knows his side are way down the preference list at the moment.
