Arsenal brought in Willian on a free transfer from Premier League rivals Chelsea this past week and according to the Brazilian, his new boss Mikel Arteta has what it takes to bring back the glory days at the club.

The 32-year-old said, via talkSPORT: “I decided to join the club because Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and because of the new project with Arteta.

“I think this club deserves to shine again, and I want to be a part of this project.

“With Arteta, I think Arsenal have a great opportunity to fight again for titles in the Premier League and in Europe.

“I am excited to start, I can’t wait to get on the pitch to do my thing to help my team-mates and the club to shine again.

“I talked to (Arteta) and the conversations were good. He gave me confidence to come to Arsenal, he said a lot of good things to me, and that’s why I have come to Arsenal.”

Will Arsenal become title contenders under Mikel Arteta?

Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have managed to win the FA Cu during the 2019-20 season which is indeed a positive start for the new boss.

But truth be told, Arteta still has to do a lot of things before he can challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

The next big task for the Gunners boss will be to get Arsenal back amongst the top four in the league table next season and for that to happen, Mikel Arteta will have to make a series of top-class signing during the ongoing transfer window.
