Arsenal have been the front runners in signing midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid for a really long time but now the player’s father has hinted otherwise.

Many experts believe it’s only a matter of time before Mikel Arteta gets his hands on the 26-year-old but his father claims that any club which can meet the demands will be able to sign him.

“My son’s current club Atletico Madrid has a release clause in Partey’s deal…this means that any club which shows interest in signing him must meet those demands,” Jacob Partey told SilverFM, as per the Mirror.

“So any team which meets Atletico’s demand will be able to sign my son, and not specifically Arsenal as rumoured in a section of the media.

“I always call my son and he is of age to decide on a move…I am ready to support his decision.”

Some rumours had claimed that Thomas Partey will only leave Atletico Madrid if he is heading to Arsenal next season but now we know this statement isn’t true.

And this is where fellow Premier League rivals Liverpool have been given renewed hopes of signing the Ghanian international since Jurgen Klopp’s side have also been linked with the defensive midfielder over the past couple of months.

Thomas Partey put up a world-class display for Atletico when the Spanish side knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League and reports claim that Klopp has become a fan of the player since then.

The Anfield outfit have also highlighted this transfer gossip on their official website which a clear cause of concern for Arsenal since Arteta is desperate to bring in a new defensive midfielder before the new season kicks off.

But if Liverpool are seriously interested in signing him there’s every chance that Thomas snubs a move to the Emirates and play for one of the best teams in Europe.
