Arsenal were humbled by Liverpool last weekend in the Premier League and some people believe this embarrassing result might affect the outcome of their clash vs Newcastle United.

The Magpies showed some improvements against Brentford and this could help them look eye to eye against Arsenal on Saturday. But according to pundit Paul Merson, the Gunners should be able to get shrug off the disappointment of the 4-0 defeat.

He wrote for Sportskeeda: “I would expect Arsenal to get back on the horse against Newcastle. They proved that they’re flat-track bullies last weekend.

“They’ve played a game apiece against the top three and they’ve been completely and utterly blown away this season. It is a worrying sign, but they have been winning games that they are expected to win.

“Newcastle didn’t get a particularly great result against Brentford the other day, but they did have a good game.

“Their fans want to see good football from them, but I don’t see them troubling Arsenal this weekend. Arsenal were on a 10-game unbeaten streak before Liverpool ended their purple patch.

“Newcastle showed signs of improvement against Brentford but will find it difficult to keep Arsenal at bay.”

Will Arsenal stumble against Newcastle United?

The North London side were in a great run of form before they faced Liverpool but we don’t think last week’s loss has done major damage to their confidence.

Yes, the scoreline was a bit embarrassing but no one actually expected to beat Liverpool that too at Anfield.

But what Arsenal have done really well this season is to crush the minnows and not drop unwanted points. Since that initial stumble, the Gunners have hardly dropped points against the so-called weaker sides which is why we don’t see Newcastle United standing up to them.

The Magpies did really well holding Brentford to a 3-3 draw but Arsenal should be able to pick up all three points this weekend, purely based on the number of superstars they have in their squad.

The likes of Bukayo Saka and Aubameyang have been in great form while Mikel Arteta has only two injury concerns going into this game. Unless Arsenal commit some illogical errors, we don’t see them going down on Saturday.
