Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has been struggling to get game time at Norwich City and now Thomas Tuchel has hinted that the youngster could be called back at the start of the new year.

The midfielder joined the Canaries in the summer hoping to get minutes under his belt but since the past few weeks, all he has done is warm the benches. And to make matters worse, Daniel Farke has come out to make it clear that he is under no pressure to hand starts to Billy Gilmour.

And while speaking to the press, the Chelsea boss has claimed that the loan deal could be reversed in January thereby opening doors for Rangers to come into the fold.

‘We will take the decision in January when a decision has to be made and not now,’ Tuchel told the press. ‘In general, I spoke with Daniel [Farke] about it and was happy to meet Billy around the match at Stamford Bridge.

‘The things were clear when we decided together that he is looking for more minutes and more game time at another club, the challenge was clear, that he needs to fight his way through and this is where he is right now.

‘Things are not going as he maybe wishes for, or as we all wish for, but it’s not the moment now to give solutions and cancel the whole project.

‘For me right now not the moment to already give solutions for January and open the talks to bring him back.

‘Now is the start of November and there are still months to go and still a lot of time to prove that he has enough quality to help Norwich be a better team.’

Will Billy Gilmour join Rangers FC in January?

Steven Gerrard will be itching to bring Billy Gilmour in for the second half of the season but he will have to go through a lot in order to get him on a loan deal.

The midfielder has featured in only four Premier League games this season for Norwich City but if he joins Rangers his situation is bound to get better.

But if his loan deal is indeed cancelled then several other English clubs will want to sign him for the second half of the season. And Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea will any day want him to remain in England, either in the Premier League or maybe in the Championship.

The Scottish Premiership is not the toughest league in Europe and by the time the January transfer window opens, there’s every chance that the champions might also have been decided(well almost).

But there’s a chance that the Gers could lose Joe Aribo at the start of the new year, in which case the Chelsea lad will have a great chance at getting starts almost every weekend.

We have a feeling that it will be down to Billy Gilmour to decide his next step, whether he wishes to join Ranters FC or another English club for the second half of the campaign.
