Celtic FC have made a really average start to their 2020-21 Premiership campaign and one of their biggest issues has been the failure to keep clean sheets.

In their first 15 matches, Celtic FC have conceded 14 goals while their Glasgow rivals have conceded only four in 17 league games.

So in a bid to strengthen their backline, manager Neil Lennon has chosen to bring in young Conor Hazard into the starting XI which is the big cause of concern for the other goalkeepers in the squad.

According to pundit Alan Hutton, the futures of Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas could be up in the air if Lennon decides to stick with the 22-year-old in the coming games.

Hutton told Football Insider: “It’s not looking great for either of them, if I’m honest. Obviously it kind of shows you Lennon’s thinking in recent weeks – they’ve conceded a lot of goals, there’s been a lot of mistakes, keeper mistakes, everything.

“It’s obviously an area where he’s just not happy and he’s turned to the youngster Hazard to come in and fill that void and he’s done well, he’s done all that’s been asked of him.

“I think you’ll see exactly what he’s thinking come the League Cup final, whether he sticks with Hazard or reverts back to one of the two we spoke about.

“I do see from one point that the other boys got them to the final – well, Barkas didn’t, because he wasn’t there – but you know what I mean, they’re more experienced but I would like to see him stick with Hazard.

“I think he’s part of the reason, as well, why they’ve won the last two games and it would be such a great achievement for him to play in a cup final.”

Bain has played four games in the Premiership this season and Barkas has featured in 10 games but the talks in Scotland indicate that Hazard could be the new No 1 for Celtic FC during the remainder of the season.

Reports are claiming that the 22-year-old is set to receive a new deal at the club which suggests that Scott Bain and Barkas’ time at Parkhead could be running out.

If Hazard is a success then the keeping duo will surely be shown the door but we do not think the Celtic FC manager will risk selling them off during the middle of the season.
