Chelsea misfit one step away from a move to the Serie A: Loan or permanent deal?

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is on the verge of joining AC Milan on a six-month loan deal in the coming few days, according to Goal.

Recently, Lampard had admitted that the club are looking to send the youngster out on loan and immediately a number of clubs were being linked with the 23-year-old centre-back.

Lampard said, as reported: “The situation with Fikayo is open at the moment. There is a possibility he could be going on loan to get games somewhere else.

“So that would have to be the solution for him and the club. That was part of my thinking of not starting him today.

“I gave him some minutes at the end but while we were looking at that I wanted to make sure it was the right thing for the club and for him and individually. So that’s why he didn’t start.

“But his attitude, even though he hasn’t played much recently, has been fantastic in training and in how he is.”

But it seems AC Milan have beaten the likes of Leeds United and according to Goal, the Rossoneri are eager to make the move permanent at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Goal are claiming: “Milan are closing in on a deal that will see them sign Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on loan until the end of the season with a purchase option of £25 million, Goal can confirm.”

Will Chelsea allow Fikayo Tomori to join Milan permanently?

After the arrival of Thiago Silva in the summer, Tomori has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea. Last season, the youngster was a prominent figure in central defence for Frank Lampard’s side but this campaign, he’s featured in only one Premier League game.

It’s obvious that he will be itching to get game time under his belt instead of warming the benches but we don’t think Lampard will be foolish enough to sell him off permanently in the summer.

Everyone knows that Thiago Silva is not the long-term solution to Chelsea’s problems so instead of spending money on a centre-back, the Blues would want one of their own academy boys to take over the baton.
