Chelsea face FC Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday and going into this second leg with a 2-0 should be comfortable enough for Tuchel’s men to be able to cruise into the next round.

But it seems like the Chelsea manager is worried his players might become complacent due to the cushioned lead they have and then in turn start focusing on their FA Cup semi-final vs Manchester City, scheduled for the the next weekend.

‘Once you are in the second leg of a Champions League quarter-final, you will not find any team that does not have the goal to arrive in the semi-final, and from there in the final,’ said the boss at his pre-match press conference.

‘We are also in the semi-final of the FA Cup so that means we play to arrive in the final, and if we arrive in the final we will play to win it. I was very clear, because there is nothing to hide, that Chelsea is a club that provides a structure, culture and quality to any coach where we can win games consecutively, and then of course we can titles.

‘I’m here to win games and to win titles. This is what I demand of myself but there is no tougher match than the next game and there is no other obstacle to overcome than Porto tomorrow. We should not get lost in dreams or hopes or speeches.

‘We are here to focus on the reality that we have a hard battle to fight in the quarter-final.’

Chelsea have bounced back from that 2-5 loss at the hands of West Brom but they will need to be fully focused on securing a Champions League spot for the next season. And a sure shot way to make it happen will be to win the UCL this time around.

Yes, a silverware will be a really big boost to Tuchel’s managerial career at Chelsea but beating Man City will be an uphill task. So there’s a big chance the Blues players have already started thinking about next weekend’s semi-final.

Porto are not going to sit back and let Chelsea walk over them in the second round so Tuchel will have to keep his players utterly devoted on Tuesday’s encounter or else they will have to finish in the top-four to guarantee Champions League qualification for the next season.
