Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to leave this summer but Manchester United are reluctant to part ways with him.

Ronaldo has not joined the rest of the team for their pre-season trip due to family reasons but it’s very much evident that he does not wish to play in the Europa League next season. And amidst all this, Chelsea have shown a keen desire to sign him.

Chelsea’s newest owners know the potential of the CR7 brand which is why they have already made contact with his agent Jorge Mendes over a possible transfer. However, according to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs, the Blues manager is the one who’s blocking this transfer.

He wrote on Twitter: “Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale. Even if Ronaldo wanted to leave Old Trafford he currently has no concrete offers at the level he’s looking to play. Interesting to see if that changes or whether MUFC soften. Ten Hag says Ronaldo is part of his plans.

“A Chelsea move isn’t likely despite a meeting between Boehly and Mendes. Thomas Tuchel does not think it makes football sense to sign Ronaldo and Raheem Sterling’s arrival (and excellent signing) isn’t likely to change his mind.

“It is true, Ronaldo is of some appeal to the owners. It’s clear what he could do for the brand. But Tuchel has been given final say which makes Ronaldo to CFC highly unlikely. And MUFC’s not for sale stance is even more genuine if the buyer is an EPL rival.”

Will Chelsea eventually be able to sign Cristiano Ronaldo?

Erik ten Hag has maintained that Cristiano Ronaldo is very much a part of his plans but if he is really pushing for a transfer then Man United will have no other option but to show him the door.

However, unlike other clubs, manager Thomas Tuchel has an appropriate say in the signings that Chelsea make and there’s no way he will agree to bring in a 37-year-old centre-forward.

He’s gotten rid of Lukaku and we think Tuchel is not planning to go ahead with Kai Havertz as his main front man next season. He’s also been able to bring in Raheem Sterling plus Chelsea are also being linked with Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry.

There’s still a possibility Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Manchester United because there are several other European clubs who can afford to sign him up but we highly doubt if he will be joining Chelsea.
