Premier League club Arsenal are about to let Dani Ceballos head back to Real Madrid at the end of the 2019-20 season.

The playmaker has had an injury-prone season in England having featured in just 14 Premier League matches so far but over the past couple of months, it seemed like the player had managed to win the trust of Mikel Arteta.

But recently as per a report in El Confidencial, the Gunners had made up their mind not to sign Dani Ceballos permanently in the summer and neither do they want him on a loan deal next season.

The report claims: “The diagnosis of the experts is clear: his talent is unquestionable, although he needs to be more effective.

“Yes, this is something they are clear about in London, but the loan agreement with Real Madrid is until the end of this season, contrary to what some media have said there is no purchase option and, in principle, it is not planned Gunners request to extend their loan.”

And just days after this report, the 23-year-old has more or less admitted that he will be heading back to Real Madrid and has plans to win the trust of Zinedine Zidane.

‘I am happy and I have a contract with Real Madrid,’ Ceballos told Deportes Cuatro, via Metro.

‘I am 23 years old, I’m not over the hill yet. Now I feel much more a player and I am prepared for any challenge that comes my way.’

Should Arteta hold onto Dani Ceballos?

This is truly a bold statement from Dani Ceballos but Zidane clearly has no use of the playmaker and if he was to return back to Spain, the Bernabeu outfit will immediately look to send him off once again.

Apart from Arsenal, a number of other clubs have shown interest in signing him during the summer and maybe Ceballos will now choose to head out of Madrid for good.

The 2019-20 season is not over yet meaning there’s still a chance the Spaniard can convince Mikel Arteta to hold onto him for one more season.

We doubt if the Gunners boss will be willing to do that especially since he still has Mesut Ozil in his squad and selling off the German is proving to be one mammoth task.
