Man United face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday and given the poor form of the Magpies in recent weeks, many people have urged Ole to use Dean Henderson in goal.

Henderson has been the second choice keeper at Man United during the ongoing season and almost all of his appearances so far has come in the knockout tournaments.

The academy graduate also featured in the starting line-up for Man United vs Real Sociedad on Thursday and some think there’s a chance that the 23-year-old could feature in goal once again on Sunday.

When Solskjaer was asked about this particular selection, the manager did go on to praise the keeper but chose to remain tight-lipped about his starting line-up for Sunday’s game.

“Of course Dean is in with a shout,” Ole said ahead of Saturday’s match.

“We pick a team on Saturday and Dean was very solid, good kicking and he could or should have had an assist for Marcus, which is another thing we worked on. He was clean in his handling, clean in his short passes and it was a good performance.

“He is maturing all the time but I have a very, very good goalkeeper in David. He saved us against West Brom so I can’t say to you now. I always speak to the players first before I say who’s playing and they will know.”

Dean Henderson has looked steady in goal whenever he’s played for Man United but we don’t think Ole will want to drop David De Gea to the bench for the Newcastle United game.

De Gea has made his fair share of mistakes this season and a lot of them have costed Man United dearly. But despite that, the Spaniard is still the No 1 for Man United and will remain so until May.

Dean Henderson is the obvious successor to David but we don’t see the 23-year-old becoming the first-choice league keeper for Man United anytime soon.
