Chelsea agree personal terms with this defensive midfielder: Will his current club let him leave?

Chelsea have been trying really hard to sign midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham United and according to journalist Nicolo Schira, the player has agreed on personal terms with the Blues.

He wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea are literally on fire: after Mendy’s signing Blues are working to close Declan Rice’s deal.

“Talks ongoing with WestHam (rejected a bid of €50M + add-ons). The midfielder has already agreed personal terms for 5-year contract.”

Will West Ham United let Declan Rice leave?

Just a couple of days ago, Fabrizio Romano had claimed that Declan Rice could try and force a move out of the London Stadium in order to join Chelsea. And now Nicolo is also talking in those very same lines.

So clearly, the England international is keen to jump ships and join Chelsea as soon as possible.

Some pundits though think West Ham United will not allow Declan Rice to leave this summer but talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham has hinted that the Hammers could look to part ways with the youngster to gather up some much needed transfer funds.

“The thing is Declan Rice is a good player – I do like him,” Durham said, as reported. “Maybe some people think he’s better than what he actually is, but I do like him.

“I do think he’s an England standard player and he is one of West Ham’s better players – you could argue that he’s their best player. But is he a match-winner on his own? Can they do without him? And I think the answer to that is yes.

“And if they do get a lot of money in for him and they do spend it wisely on the players [David] Moyes thinks will make West Ham’s first team better than I think that it’s got to be a consideration.

“The story was last week is that they wanted [James] Tarkowski and they could get him for what £50m? That’s what Burnley were talking about. They could maybe get him for a little bit less than that.

“If you sell Declan Rice and you sell Tarkowski then you’ve got some money left over then I think that’s got to represent a positive deal for West Ham United.”

Chelsea clearly are ready to spend the cash on Declan Rice this summer and if they are willing to meet West Ham United’s monetary demand then we don’t see why David Moyes will stop Declan Rice from returning to his former club.
