West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice could snub a move to Chelsea in the summer and join Manchester United instead, according to a report in MEN

The report claims: “West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is interested in joining Manchester United.

“The Manchester Evening News understands Rice asked United players about the club during the England national team’s World Cup qualifiers last month. Dean Henderson, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were with the England squad for the entirety of the squad get-together while Marcus Rashford withdrew after the first qualifier against San Marino.

“Jesse Lingard, Rice’s teammate on loan at West Ham, was also in the squad. It is understood Rice spoke specifically to Maguire and Shaw about aspects of United.”

Will Declan Rice choose a move to Man United over Chelsea?

Declan Rice has been linked with a move to Chelsea for some time now and since the midfielder spent time some of his youth career with the Blues, it was certain he will want to return to Stamford Bridge at some point in his career.

Now it looks like the defensive midfielder is more inclined to join Manchester United and his current teammate Jesse Lingard could play a major part in this transfer.

Lingard is currently on loan at West Ham United and the kind of form the player has shown, it’s no secret that Moyes will want him on a permanent deal. And if this stands true even at the end of the season then Man United could use Lingard as a counterweight in a potential deal for Declan Rice.

As per some reports, the Hammers want around 100 million pounds for the sale of Rice but if Lingard is part of the deal then this asking price could come down to around 70 or 75 million pounds. And given the talent of Declan Rice, this price tag will be an absolute steal.

Chelsea on the other hand will love to bring Rice back to the club but we are not sure they will be too eager to spend so much money on a single player this summer. The only way they can afford the England international is by selling players like N’Golo Kante or Jorginho at the end of this season.

Also, it was Frank Lampard who was eager to bring in Declan Rice and we are not so sure if Thomas Tuchel also harbours the same feelings.

This would mean that Chelsea could eventually back out from this transfer race making Manchester United the automatic favourites to sign the 22-year-old midfielder.
